Newport Beach : Restaurant Review Changes Advance

Share

The City Council this week tentatively endorsed an ordinance that would subject restaurants to Planning Commission review if they plan any changes in their operations that could lead to increased traffic congestion, noise or parking alterations.

The proposed ordinance also would require restaurants within 200 feet of a residential area to obtain Planning Commission approval before extending operating hours past 12:30 a.m., according to City Atty. Robert Burnham.

The measure will come back to the council for a second reading and final vote Sept. 23.
