Tax Planning for Real Estate Investors by James B. Kau & C.F. Sirmans (Prentice-Hall Inc., $9.95, 258 pages) explains how real estate investors can reduce their tax bills under the current (1984) tax laws. There is a good chance that the 1984 Tax Reform act will be scrapped or extensively modified in the upcoming congressional session, but it’s still the law. This is a highly technical book, probably more suited to experienced investors or their accountants than to the novice. Still, it might be worth the investment if you’re contemplating investing in real estate tax shelters.
