Difference of B

Letters from Kathleen Salisbury and Lynn Montgomery (Aug. 25) regarding B&Bs;: Want to know the difference between a traveler and a tourist? Travelers leave home to see and do, whether it be Paris or Timbuktu. They care nothing for food and accommodations, inasmuch as most of the places they visit are either out of the way, or they are so busy exploring when night comes, that even a “sharp little room” is heaven. On the other hand, most tourists (at least the ones who write to this section) rhapsodize over what they ate and where they slept. No doubt staying at a charming hotel or a B&B; adds to the enjoyment of a trip, but if that’s all you have to talk about when you return from, say Europe or the Far East, it seems to me you could have that without leaving the city you live in.
