Local News in Brief : Infant Dies, Raising Toll of Collision to 4
A 6-month-old girl died Monday, becoming the fourth victim of a collision between a truck and a car near Valencia Sunday, officials said.
Also killed were the driver of the car, Leslie Ford, 30, of Altadena, and two of her passengers, 5-year-old Damon Huff of Altadena and a 54-year-old woman whose name was withheld pending notification of relatives.
A California Highway Patrol spokesman said the identity of the infant was not known.
Another passenger in Ford’s car, James Huff, 7, was in “very, very grave condition” at County-USC Medical Center late Monday afternoon, a hospital spokeswoman said.
A sixth occupant, Latina Oliver, 4, was treated and released from Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, a spokeswoman said.
The truck driver, Leon Jones, 35, of Van Nuys and the driver of a van that was also involved in the collision were both treated and released from Holy Cross Hospital in Mission Hills, a spokeswoman said.
The accident occurred at 6 p.m. Sunday when the car turned left onto Henry Mayo Drive from Chiquito Canyon Road and plowed into the truck, then hit a van, the CHP said.
It is unknown whether the people in the car were related.
