MOSCOW —
Challenger Gary Kasparov took his first timeout today following two successive defeats in his world chess title duel against champion Anatoly Karpov, who leads 3-2. The 22-year-old challenger’s decision means that today’s scheduled game will be postponed until Thursday. Each player can take three timeouts, and Karpov, 34, has already taken one.
