Brea : Bank Helipad Proposal to Be Studied Further
Security Pacific National Bank on Thursday withdrew its request to locate a helipad at the Olinda landfill near Brea so that the controversial proposal could be studied further, a bank official said.
The bank’s request to put a helipad on the roof of its three-story operations center at 275 S. Valencia Ave. was turned down by the Brea City Council on Aug. 6 because of citizen concerns over helicopter noise in neighboring areas.
Susan Taha, a senior vice president with the bank, said that its request--which would have been heard at a meeting of the county’s Waste Management Advisory Commission on Thursday--was withdrawn by the bank pending further study.
“There are a great many things to consider,” Taha said, “like cost and timing. We have several ideas on the table and our research simply did not get completed by the time of the meeting. We are continuing to do additional research.”
The Olinda landfill is on unincorporated county property near the banking center.
