George Steinbrenner, principal owner of the New York Yankees, accused the umpiring crew of doing a terrible job for both sides in the Yankees’ recent four-game series against Toronto and proposed that blue-ribbon crews be used in future big series.
Working the four games at Yankee Stadium last weekend were Jim Evans, Eugene Hendry, Dan Morrison and Mark Johnson, who was substituting for vacationing Nick Bremigan.
