“China Night,” a black-tie dinner and auction...

“China Night,” a black-tie dinner and auction Oct. 5 at the San Diego Museum of Art, will be hosted by the Asian Arts Committee for the benefit of the museum’s collection of Oriental art. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with a hosted cocktail hour, during which the auction items will be on view. A Chinese banquet, prepared by chefs from San Diego’s Shanghai restaurants, will be served at 8 p.m.

The evening will also feature modeling of a collection of 14 antique Chinese costumes, the oldest dating back to the Han Dynasty (202 BC to AD 220). A post-dinner drawing for prizes will give guests the chance to win a cruise to China. Tickets cost $100. For more information, call the museum.

The Parents Assn. of The Bishop’s School will present “An English Country Faire on Bishop’s Green,” its 29th annual fashion show and luncheon, at the school on Oct. 18. It will commence at 11:30 a.m. with entertainment and a boutique display of English country handicrafts. The luncheon and fashion presentation (Nordstrom will host the show) follow.

Minna Melton will chair the event, which will cost $27 per person. Funds raised will benefit several of the school’s academic programs and campus activities. Call the school offices for further information.
