Galletti Brothers Foods, a food processing plant in Central Los Angeles that closed after 67 employees became ill from carbon monoxide poisoning, reopened after county health officials determined that the poisonous gas probably came from the exhaust fumes of a forklift, according to Warren Stanton, general counsel for the firm. Normal operations resumed after health officials cleared the plant, Stanton said, adding that the company will overhaul four forklifts used at the East 21st Street plant to determine if any of the machines is still releasing the fumes. Although none of the ill employees was seriously injured, 25 were taken to area hospitals for treatment, Fire Department spokesman Larry Ford said. Forty-two employees were treated at the scene, he said.
