Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley met in Buenos Aires with Argentine Vice President Victor Martinez and other government officials, promoting trade and tourism with California and business for Los Angeles Harbor. He also saw the city’s sights, taking in an opera and a tango show as well as touring a shantytown, where he was impressed by the residents’ pride and care for their meager belongings. Bradley said he hoped to persuade Argentine exporters to use Los Angeles as a transfer point for shipping goods to other Pacific Rim nations.
