‘Flat-Tire Rapist’ Sentenced

A 36-year-old Los Angeles man dubbed the “Flat-Tire Rapist” was sentenced today to 113 years and seven life terms in state prison for assaults on 11 local women in 1984.

Paul Seward, who was sentenced by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Roger W. Boren, had been charged with kidnaping, robbing and attacking the women after letting the air out of their car tires and then waiting around to offer help. “It is clear to me,” said Boren in announcing the sentence, “that the defendant should never walk the streets again.”
