Trepte Honored for Globe Theatre Reconstruuction
Trepte Construction Co. of San Diego has been named the 1985 Contractor of the Year by the San Diego/Imperial Valley Counties chapter of the American Public Works Assn.
The award was based on Trepte’s work for the Old Globe Theatre, specifically the reconstruction of the Lowell Davies Festival Theatre which was destroyed by arson in October, 1984.
Trepte crews worked 12-hour days, seven days a week for most of the three-month construction period in order for the Festival Theatre to be completed for its June opening. Innovative construction techniques were employed to cut costs and reduce the construction schedule.
