SAN ANDREAS, Calif. —
Prosecutors today filed eight murder counts, part of a total of 16 felony charges, against Charles Ng, the companion of alleged mass killer Leonard Lake who has been linked to the disappearance of nearly two dozen people.
Calaveras County Dist. Atty. John Martin said the action was the first step in extraditing Ng, 24, from Canada. The complaint includes eight murder counts and one charge of being an accessory to murder. It also alleges special circumstances that could put Ng in the gas chamber.
