17th World Chess Game a Draw

MOSCOW —
World chess champion Anatoly Karpov and challenger Gary Kasparov agreed to draw their 17th game of the world title match today, leaving Kasparov in the lead with a score of 9 points to Karpov’s 8. Karpov offered to draw the game after Kasparov’s 29th move with the white pieces. The next game of the 24-game match is scheduled for Saturday.
