The United States, upset by West Germany...
The United States, upset by West Germany in the second round of this year’s Davis Cup tennis competition, will have a chance to avenge that defeat at the same stage next year, according to the draw for the 1986 series.
But the Americans first will have to travel to Ecuador for what is expected to be a tough opening-round challenge. The Germans will go to Mexico for their first World Group match.
Since this year’s West Germany-United States meeting was at Hamburg, the Americans will have the home advantage should both teams make it to the second round in 1986, and will be able to choose the surface.
