More than 100 Beverly Hills residents, businessmen and property owners took part in the first meeting of the city’s Goal Program Task Force at Greystone Mansion on Saturday.

Mayor Edward I. Brown said the task force will “prepare a set of goals to guide and shape the city’s future for the next 20 years.” He said the group will evaluate the city’s general plan, which was last done 10 years ago.

Participants were selected by the City Council from more than 700 applications. The selection was televised on the city’s cable television channel.

“We’ve brought together a diverse group of people and we hope to come up with a consensus,” Brown said.

Brown said that the task force should take a year to 18 months to complete its job.
