15 Achille Lauro Passengers Injured in Fatal Bus Crash
A bus carrying former passengers home from their voyage on the Italian cruise ship Achille Lauro slammed into wreckage from a car-truck crash, police said today. Three people were killed, and 15 of the former passengers were hurt, five of them seriously.
Killed were the bus driver and a travel agency employee aboard the bus and the driver of a car.
The bus, chartered by the travel agency, was traveling from the Italian port of Genoa, where the hijacked Achille Lauro finally docked late Wednesday, to Frankfurt.
Police said they found a list with 44 names of West German ship passengers on the dead travel agency employee, but it was not clear how many of them were aboard the bus.
