Hit-and-Run Victim Listed as ‘Critical’
An Irvine bicyclist struck by a hit-and-run driver Saturday remained in extremely critical condition.
Craig Casey, 26, was hit by what a witness described as an older, faded green, full-sized American car traveling west on Irvine Center Drive at Orange Tree Street.
Casey sustained massive internal injuries and a severed spinal cord, said Sgt. Mike Ogden. Orange County paramedics treated Casey at the scene and took him to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where he was placed on life-support systems.
A hospital spokesman said Saturday night that Casey’s condition was extremely critical.
Ogden asked that anyone who may have witnessed the accident contact the Irvine Police Department.
