McClatchy will sell four cable-TV systems.

The newspaper firm said two California systems, Fresno Cable TV and Sequoia Cable Vision of Tulare and Visalia, are up for sale along with two in Nevada--NorCal Cablevision of Yuba City and Marysville and Telcab Communications of Reno. “One of the reasons we got into cable in the first place was that we believed cable might have an effect on newspapers and that a synergism between newspapers and cable might be evolved,” said Erwin Potts, executive vice president. “That hasn’t happened.”
