Kings Begin Six Games on the Road Tonight Against Rangers at Garden

The Kings will try to end a three-game losing streak tonight when they open a six-game trip against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden.

Losers in six of their first seven games this season, the Kings beat the Rangers, 4-3, at the Forum last week for their only victory.

“If we keep playing like this, we’re going to be staying in trailer parks,” Coach Pat Quinn said.

The 12-day East Coast swing will be the Kings’ longest trip of the season, and if previous eastern trips are an indication, they are not likely to fare too well.

Among their opponents will be the New York Islanders, whom the Kings have not beaten in New York since Oct. 20, 1981; the Boston Bruins, whom they have not beaten in Boston since Jan. 24, 1981, and the Philadelphia Flyers, against whom the Kings have a 2-28-6 record in their last 36 games in Philadelphia.
