The U.S. Olympic Committee’s executive board has voted to support Anchorage, Alaska, in its bid to host the 1992 Winter Olympics.

The vote, which came during the executive board’s quarterly meeting, guaranteed committee support for Anchorage during international negotiations to select a site for the Games, said USOC spokesman Mike Moran.

In other business, the board voted to work with organizers of next summer’s Goodwill Games, being organized by Ted Turner of Turner Broadcasting System Inc. and Soviet officials. The Goodwill Games are a multi-sport competition scheduled for Moscow next summer.
