The residents of Wyoming and Indiana enjoyed the biggest gains while residents of Delaware, Alaska and Montana suffered declines, the Commerce Department said. The biggest force propelling wages upward was a strong increase in construction payrolls, which offset sluggish activity in the manufacturing sector, the department said. The second-quarter gain followed an even larger 1.7% increase in non-farm personal income during the first three months of the year. Wyoming led the country with a 3.1% income jump, followed by gains of 2% in Indiana, 1.8% in Kansas, 1.7% in Arizona and 1.6% in Florida.
