Padres Retain Williams, but Deny His Request
Manager Dick Williams of the San Diego Padres will return to manage the team next season, despite not getting the contract extension he wanted.
Williams’ five-year contract expires at the end of next season.
Williams met with club President Ballard Smith and General Manager Jack McKeon on Wednesday, and Thursday said he is still talking with the club about a contract extension.
