Laguna Beach : Parade to Mark Opening of Parking Structure

Share

Laguna Beach’s new $2-million parking structure on Glenneyre Street will be dedicated in ceremonies beginning at 12:30 p.m. Sunday with a parade of antique and classic automobiles rolling along the streets from City Hall.

The low-profile brick building will accommodate 218 vehicles on two levels, an increase of 126 spaces over the former lot at the same location.

Terry Brandt, director of municipal services for the city, said Orange County Supervisor Thomas F. Riley and Bill Keene, KNX weather and traffic broadcaster, will accompany Mayor Bobbie Minkin and City Council members in the cavalcade.

The proceedings will include a benefit gala for the nonprofit Laguna Beach Community Clinic, formerly the Free Clinic. Music and entertainment will follow.

Brandt said parking spaces in the new structure, built to relieve parking pressure in the city’s retail district, will be metered at 50 cents an hour, with a two-hour limit.
