IMAGES OF COLLEEN

Nineteen months after her suicide by gunshot at age 20, Colleen Applegate--a.k.a. Shauna Grant--lives as a porn star.

“Every Man’s Fantasy,” a compilation of previously unused Grant footage, just opened at local Pussycat Theaters. Her earlier films are playing on adult TV channels across the country. Tower Videos on Sunset Boulevard displays a special Shauna Grant collection. And packets of her photos sell for as much as $25, according to one source.

Applegate, who plunged into the world of porn and cocaine after arriving here in 1982 from Farmington, Minn., also is the subject of a CBS movie in development. Green-Epstein Productions acquired dramatic rights from the Applegate family after reading of the girl’s tawdry life and death in a Calendar article by Michael London (London, now veep for development at Simpson-Bruckheimer Productions, has been retained as a consultant). Rod Browning is about to turn in a first draft--but it won’t exactly be the Colleen Applegate story.

“We’re going to change the names,” said producer Jim Green. “We don’t want to drag the family through this again by name.” But the family has been “very cooperative--they want the story told.”

The title: “Images of Eileen.”
