Pershing Square Assn. Elects Three Top Officers

The Pershing Square Management Assn. has elected David C. Martin and Joseph Woodard vice chairmen and Janet Marie Smith president, it was announced by Wayne Ratkovich, board chairman.

Martin is affiliated with Albert C. Martin & Associates and Woodard with Westgroup Inc. Smith was formerly executive director of the association. Ratkovich, of Ratkovich, Bowers & Perez Inc., is the founding chairman of the association, formed in 1982.

The nonprofit corporation was formed to work with the city’s Community Redevelopment Agency and Department of Recreation and Parks to revitalize downtown’s central park. As the association’s chief operating officer, Smith will work with the two city offices on the management and redevelopment of Pershing Square, the city’s oldest park.

Before joining the association as executive director in January, 1985, Smith was coordinator of architecture and design of the Battery Park City, a 92-acre, $3-billion development in lower Manhattan, N.Y. She holds a bachelor’s degree in architectural design and a master’s in urban planning.
