Steve Lundquist, who won gold medals in swimming at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, has joined the cast of the NBC soap opera “Search for Tomorrow.” Beginning this week, he’ll be seen playing the son of Lloyd Kendall (Joe Lambie), a sportswriter named Steve.

Cheryl Ladd, Jane Seymour, Lee Horsley and Christopher Plummer have been signed to star in “Crossings,” a five-hour miniseries that ABC plans to broadcast in 1986. It’s based on the novel by Danielle Steel about how a group of wealthy characters is affected by World War II.

“Days of Our Lives” celebrates its 20th anniversary Friday with its 5,000th broadcast. Still with the NBC soap opera from the original cast are Macdonald Carey and Frances Reid as Dr. and Mrs. Tom Horton and John Clarke as their son, Mickey. Among the show’s alumni are Joan Van Ark of “Knots Landing,” Mary Frann of “Newhart” and Jack Coleman of “Dynasty.”

Hal Holbrook, Lloyd Bridges and Alec Baldwin are starring in “Dress Gray,” a four-hour movie for NBC written by Gore Vidal. Baldwin plays a cadet at a U.S. military academy who tries to uncover the circumstances surrounding the death of another cadet. Holbrook and Bridges portray generals at the academy.
