The Region : Slain Pair’s Bones Found
Human bones found in a Mojave Desert dry wash near Needles were identified as those of an Oklahoma woman and her daughter missing since August. Authorities said the two were apparently murdered. Janie Allen, 40, and Kimberly Lidyard, 14, were last seen Aug. 8 when they left Los Angeles to drive home to Oklahoma City. They were reported missing by the woman’s husband, who traveled across the country in search of his wife and stepdaughter. In late October, two human skulls were found by hunters. Investigators theorized the pair were murdered, possibly after their truck broke down on the highway. Investigators said Allen was carrying between $4,000 and $6,000 in cash when she left Los Angeles.
