The University of Texas has hired an alumnus, former all-Southwest Conference defensive end Knox Nunnally, to investigate a car lease-purchase deal that would have given running back Edwin Simmons a $19,000 car for less than one-fourth the cost.
Ron Brown, vice president for student affairs at Texas, said the university had informed the NCAA of the investigation, which Nunnally has led for several weeks, the Dallas Morning News reported.
