Rio Hondo
Teachers and the Board of Trustees have renegotiated pay scales for the 1985-86 school year, giving instructors at Rio Hondo Community College a 6.2% salary increase. The pact also calls for a 6.2% increase in benefits for the college’s 195 full-time teachers.
A college spokesman said the two sides met for negotiations only twice before reaching the agreement, which is retroactive to July 1. This is the final year of a three-year contract.
Under terms of the agreement, salaries for beginning instructors will jump from $20,953 to $22,252, while salaries for the highest-paid teachers will climb from $39,320 to $41,758.
