Police are investigating three armed robberies--including two at the same motel--that occurred over two days in Corona, Lt. Bob Martin said Wednesday.

On Monday evening, a gunman robbed the cashier of the Kings Inn on Pomona Road. The robber was described as black, about 35 years old, 6-foot-1, 185 pounds. He carried a blue steel revolver, officers said.

Tuesday night, a guest from Michigan at the same motel was tied up and robbed of $350 cash. Earlier Tuesday, an elderly Corona man tried to wrestle a gun from a robber who approached him in his own backyard in the 500 block of Fuller Street, but an accomplice hit the victim over the head with a baseball bat, police said.

The victim gave his attackers about $200, and they fled on foot. He described the gunman as a Latino, 5-foot-8, 165 pounds. His accomplice was a Latino woman, 5-foot-5 with a small build and dark clothing. Both were about 25 years old, he told police.

The victim was not seriously injured, Martin said.
