A downtown stadium designed to keep the Giants in San Francisco has won the support of a joint committee of the Board of Supervisors.

The resolution unanimously approved by the board’s Planning, Housing and Development Committee and its Cultural and Recreational Committee urged Mayor Dianne Feinstein to “take all action possible” to aid in the stadium plans. However, it specifically excludes any commitment of public funds for the project.

The stadium complex plan announced in June by developer Peter Stocker envisions a 45,000-seat structure, retail businesses and a small hotel.
