Marathon champion Joan Benoit Samuelson was released from University Hospital in Boston after undergoing surgery for bone spurs.
Samuelson was admitted Tuesday for the minor surgery, a hospital spokesman said.
The operation was the latest Samuelson has had for the same problem. “She’s had a number of these removed here,” the spokesman said.
Samuelson, the Olympic marathon champion, beat world record-holder Ingrid Kristiansen in Chicago on Oct. 20 with a time of 2:21:21, the second fastest woman’s time ever.
