Rosemead : Board Chief Resigns

Share

John Bowers has resigned as president of the Rosemead School Board because he has moved to Monrovia.

The board decided by a 3-0 vote last week to fill the two years remaining in Bowers’ term by appointment rather than by a special election. “We didn’t feel that the district should have to pay for an election at this time,” board member Elaine Pendleton said. A special election would cost the district $7,000 to $8,000, Supt. Richard Harris said.

Candidates for the vacated seat must file letters of intent with the superintendent’s office by Nov. 25, Harris said. The board will hold a special meeting Dec. 5 to interview candidates, he said.
