Hollyhock House Article

Dianne Kanner’s article (Oct. 20) on Frank Lloyd Wright’s Hollyhock House, owned by the city of Los Angeles and operated by the Cultural Affairs Department, was excellent and created widespread interest. I have been in a position, as a volunteer there, to hear the many favorable comments of other trained volunteers on the breadth and content of her feature.

Los Angeles Conservancy members touring another Frank Lloyd Wright house, restored by Joel Silver, on the same date, made repeated references to that account of Hollyhock House. In addition, the article was frequently mentioned on the following Wednesday, when over 1,000 persons attended the free open house in Barnsdall Art Park, which celebrated the 10th anniversary of Mayor Tom Bradley’s first opening the house for public tours.
