Oh, bravo Lewis Beale!
Thanks you for a serious and thorough analysis of what has become a really gooey, insidious genre of films.
It seems particularly unfortunate that just as Vietnam veterans are attempting to heal old wounds in part by reminding us that they are human, a film (whose title I refuse to mention) has to blast on the scene using a character who is anything but human as an avenging ‘Nam “angel.”
I wonder how much this simplistic/paranoid trend in movies might be echoed in the growing wave of violence at sports events?
