The 24-year-old father of an infant who died at Children’s Hospital Saturday night was arrested Sunday on suspicion of having caused the child’s death, police officials said.
Bill Robinson, a police spokesman, said officers arrested Efrain Sandoval in connection with the death of 9-month-old Imelda Sandoval. He was being held Sunday night in County Jail.
Robinson said the child, apparently battered, arrived Friday night. She died there about 24 hours later, a spokeswoman for the county coroner’s office said.
Robinson said homicide detectives questioned Sandoval and the mother of the child.
