Sewage overflowing from a manhole in Pacific Beach prompted county health officials on Sunday to quarantine Ski Beach on Mission Bay, the Mission Bay Harbor Patrol said.
Officer Bill Tripp said raw sewage began overflowing from a manhole on Ingraham Street about 12:45 p.m. at an estimated 30 gallons a minute. Because the sewage was running into the bay, Tripp said the county Health Services Department was closing the beach.
County health officials could not be reached Sunday for details. Tripp said the beach, on the eastern side of the bay near the 3500 block of Ingraham, could remain closed for several days.
