Frank Langella will play Frederic Bartholdi, the sculptor who designed and built the Statue of Liberty, in “Liberty,” a three-hour movie for NBC about how the monument came to be erected in New York Harbor. Joining him in the cast will be Carrie Fisher, Chris Sarandon, George Kennedy and LeVar Burton. The film is being shot in Baltimore and Paris.

What happens when three employees at a New York advertising agency place ads in the personals column of a local magazine? That’s the subject of a new comedy film for CBS, “Classified Love.” It stars Michael McKean, Stephanie Faracy and Dinah Manoff.

“The Bob Hope Christmas Show,” his 47th yuletide special for NBC, will air Dec. 15. Guests will be Brooke Shields, Raquel Welch and Emmanuel Lewis of “Webster.” Hope has been appearing on NBC for 36 years but has done more Christmas specials than that because for a time he did two a year--one in a studio, like this, and one taped on his overseas tour for the military.

Anne Archer plays a radio psychiatrist and Tony Roberts portrays the man in her life in “A Different Affair,” a TV movie being made for CBS. The “other man” alluded to in the title turns out to be a 12-year-old boy (Bobby Jacoby) whom Archer’s character has been sponsoring from afar in a foster parents’ program. Then he shows up and asks her to play the role for real.
