South Gate
South Gate police are looking for help in identifying a woman who was found shot to death early Monday on Independence Avenue east of Otis Avenue.
The woman is in her mid-20s, Latino or Asian, with long black hair and brown eyes, said Lt. Mike Blaska. She is 5-foot-2, weighs between 100 and 110 pounds, has a two-inch scar on her left forearm and a crooked front tooth. The woman was wearing a blue long-sleeve sweater, corduroy jeans and no shoes when her body was found at 6:35 a.m. by a South Gate resident on his way to work, Blaska said. The woman was shot in the head with a large-caliber handgun or a shotgun, he said.
“We have no idea who she is,” Blaska said.
Anyone with information is asked to call police at 567-2222, and speak to Detective Sgt. Ralph Carter or Detective Terry Mc Weenie.
