Copter Rescues Two Shipwrecked Fishermen
A Coast Guard helicopter plucked two Ventura fishermen from a rocky beach on Santa Cruz Island Wednesday, after their boat lost its engine in rough seas and crashed against rocks.
Paul Grant and Mike Lewis jumped into the roaring surf and scrambled to shore after their boat was disabled, a Coast Guard spokesman said. A passing boat spotted them and radioed for help.
The men were airlifted to the Coast Guard station in Oxnard, but neither was seriously injured.
