Stephen V. Wilson, a former federal prosecutor and a law professor at Loyola University in Los Angeles, has been formally sworn in as a federal judge in ceremonies at the U.S. Courthouse in downtown Los Angeles. Wilson, 44, was installed after the Senate confirmed his nomination by President Reagan. He has been with the Los Angeles law firm of Hochman, Salkin & DeRoy for several years and has taught law at Loyola and at the University of San Diego. He was with the U.S. attorney’s office in Los Angeles from 1971 to 1977 and was a trial attorney with the Tax Division of the Justice Department from 1968 to 1972. He was graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Lehigh University and a law degree from Brooklyn Law School in New York. Wilson becomes the 19th active jurist for the U.S. Central District of California, which includes San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
