A Westwood movie theater was evacuated without injury to its patrons when a building next door caught fire. A spokesman for the Los Angeles City Fire Department said the blaze began inside a former video arcade undergoing renovation in the 10900 block of Weyburn Avenue, near the Village Theater, which is in the 900 block of Broxton Avenue. Eight fire companies controlled the flames in a little more than half an hour, with damage estimated in excess of $100,000. More than 400 people filed out of the theater when flames burned close to the rear wall, but the theater was not damaged, a Fire Department spokesman said.
