Phillies Face Reds in Baseball Opener
The Cincinnati Reds will meet the Philadelphia Phillies at Riverfront Stadium on Monday, April 7, at 2:05 p.m. in the traditional National League opening game, the club announced.
The Reds ands Phillies have met on Opening Day in Cincinnati four times in the Reds’ 101 seasons in the National League. The last time was in 1981 when the Reds won, 3-2.
The Reds hosted the Phillies in openers at Crosley Field in 1958, 1960 and 1962, with Philadelphia winning two of the games and Cincinnati one.
The Reds will be trying for their fourth straight Opening Day victory. They defeated Atlanta in the 1983 opener, New York in 1984 and Montreal this year.
