The body of Roger Maris, whose 61 home runs in 1961 broke Babe Ruth’s cherished record, was to be flown to Fargo, N.D., for burial Thursday. Maris, 51, died of lymphatic cancer Saturday at M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute in Houston, where his condition had deteriorated since he was admitted Nov. 20.
Maris is to be buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Fargo, where the family of his wife, Patricia Ann, is buried.
