Tony Conigliaro, the former baseball star for the Boston Red Sox who was incapacitated by a heart attack in 1982, has been given more than $187,000 in workmen’s compensation as part of an out-of-court settlement of a lawsuit, a former business partner said. Conigliaro, a former employee of American Consultants International (ACI), a West Hollywood firm, received the money from California Casualty and Fireman’s Fund, according to Dennis Gilbert, a Beverly Hills agent.

“It was a very high and unusual settlement,” according to attorney Dale Gribow, who acted on Conigliaro’s behalf. Conigliaro, who will be 41 on Jan. 7, lives with his brother, Billy, in Nahant, Mass., and requires the attention of a full-time nurse, Gilbert said.
