A 25-year-old North Hollywood man riding a motorcycle was killed Friday when a cement mixer cut in front of him at a Sun Valley intersection and the motorcycle smashed into the 24-ton truck, Los Angeles police reported.

The driver of the cement mixer, Paul Christenson, 28, of Acton was arrested on suspicion of felony manslaughter and was being held at Van Nuys Jail, Officer Gary Wachtler said.

The victim, Fabian Guillermo, was driving west on Strathern Street about 4:50 p.m. when the cement mixer passed him in the fast lane, Wachtler said. Christenson then attempted to turn his cement mixer north onto Tujunga Avenue from the fast lane, cutting in front of Guillermo, whose motorcycle left a 35-foot skid mark on the pavement, Wachtler said.
