2-Year-Old Twin Boys Die in Fire in San Bernardino
An electric heater touched off a bedroom fire at an apartment complex early Friday, killing 2-year-old twin boys, authorities said.
“A smoke detector would have saved their lives,” city Fire Department Battalion Chief Mikel Park said. “Sometimes this job stinks.”
The fire, which caused little damage to the building, was reported at 6:33 a.m. It apparently was caused by an electric heater placed near a mattress and bedclothes, he said.
The parents were taken to a hospital with minor injuries. Their identity was not immediately disclosed.
