Alcohol Sales: A move to ban the sale of alcohol at convenience stores that also sell gasoline was placed on hold until next month. To ensure that Yorba Linda’s only existing store that sells fuel along with beer and wine is “grandfathered in” and not affected by the new law, city officials postponed their vote last week to give the city staff a chance to rewrite the proposed law. The new ordinance is virtually guaranteed approval by a council that has already given its support to the idea, seen by its proponents as a means of curbing drunk driving. Councilman Gene Wisner, however, has pledged to vote against the ordinance, saying the ban is an infringement of his personal freedoms. “I don’t want people telling me where to shop,” Wisner said.
