An administrative aide at the Mexican Consulate in Los Angeles was charged with battery and assault with a deadly weapon in the alleged beating of a man outside the building. The city attorney’s office said Salvador Ricardo Uribe, 26, a Mexican national who only has limited diplomatic immunity, was charged with the two misdemeanor counts in the alleged attack Dec. 19 on Jack Gerriten, 49, of Monterey Park. Police said Uribe, of Montebello, had just arrived at the consulate at Paseo de la Plaza, when he saw Gerriten passing out Spanish-language leaflets. The contents of the leaflets and the reason for the ensuing argument were not known.
